May felt like a whirlwind. We got the keys to our new home, and little by little, we’ve been settling in. On weekends, we’ve been doing sleepovers there—just easing in. It’s been a nice way to help the kids (and honestly, us too) adjust to the new space and neighborhood. I’m so grateful for this next chapter we’re stepping into.
May’s (belated) favorites are a bit random, but I’m rolling with it.
Packing Fave: These storage bags have been such a lifesaver. We’ve used them to haul everything from clothes to random household items. Our new place has a basement and an attic, so I’m thinking these will be great for storing off-season clothing or bedding.
What I Got My Husband: In case you missed it, I put together a Father’s Day gift guide. I ended up getting the Crosley Turntable for my husband and for our upcoming 11th anniversary, I went with the Solo Stove Bonfire. We usually try to stick to the traditional anniversary gifts by year theme, and since 11 years is steel, it felt like the perfect fit. I took them up on the engraving they offer so that we remember what was gifted for the 11th year ha!
Saving Podcasts for my Kids: Lately, during my daughter’s naps, I’ll pop in my earphones and play a podcast. Nothing too heavy, just something inspiring or thought-provoking. When I find an episode valuable, I’ll save it into a little folder, kind of like a time capsule of listens I hope my kids will play one day.
Kids’ Room Decor – I’ve been researching ideas for the kids’ rooms in the new house already. I ended up ordering a low loft bed for my son, and he’s so excited about it. For my daughter’s nursery, I picked up this rug after reading rave reviews about how soft and plush the ‘Cloudpile’ rugs are—and it totally lives up to the hype. The moment I rolled it out, she laid right down and rubbed her face against it.
Makeup – I found this brow gel on Amazon and have been using it every day. I brush my brows up with it and it really holds all day. Once it sets, I layer on a bit of Brow Up for color. On days I want extra, then fill in any sparse spots with a brow pencil. It’s a quick little routine, but I’m loving the finished look.
Kids Photo Album - For my son, I made five photo books (one for each year of his life) using a drag-and-drop style site, and he’s loved flipping through them. They’ve definitely gotten a lot of love, and now the binding and pages are starting to wear out, mainly on the thicker books. Moving forward, I’m switching to more traditional photo albums as now I need to work on two kids’ albums. I just ordered over 300 prints from Mpix and got this self-adhesive album that feels a bit more hands-on and lasting.
Have a lovely weekend!
