A Soft Reset
Bedroom reset, health tracking, travel upgrades, kids playroom staple, not your typical trench coat, everyday sunglasses
Hi. It’s been a minute. Here’s what life has looked like lately, aka what I’m into.
I thought it would be fun to periodically share a running list of everything I’ve been reaching for, using, or thinking about. Kind of like my personal archive. Things that have made (or will make) life easier, better, or just more enjoyable.
Let me know what you think of this format.
Function Health
I’m sure many of you have heard of Function Health, where you can test a wide range of biomarkers and track them over time. I’ve been curious about it for a while and finally decided to sign up for both myself and my husband. I liked the idea of having a clearer baseline and being more proactive instead of reactive when it comes to our health.
They include two blood tests a year, which actually feels helpful for seeing patterns over time. They are currently running an offer for Chase Sapphire cardmembers to earn cash back on memberships, which made it feel like the right moment to commit. I just completed the health intake and now need to schedule a time to get my bloodwork done. Here’s my referral link that gives you $25 off if you’re interested.
Google “Results About You” Removal Tool
Everyone should take five minutes to set this up. It’s a feature that alerts you when your personal information such as your phone number or address shows up in search results so you can request removal.
I set it up recently and was surprised by how often I get notifications. It is a small thing, but it gives me peace of mind knowing I have more visibility and control over what is out there. Here is a quick guide on how to turn it on.
CLEAR+ & TSA PreCheck
Pre kids, my husband and I had TSA PreCheck, but we completely forgot to renew it and somehow went years without it. The two month free trial for CLEAR+ gave us the push to finally set everything up again, and it made going through the airport with two kids on our trip to Italy last month surprisingly easy.
If you sign up for CLEAR+ now, you get TSA PreCheck for free, which makes it even more worthwhile. It is one of those things you don’t realize how much you missed until you have it again.
And now for some recent purchases and items I’m eyeing:
Kids table and chair set
This set has been perfect for the kids’ playroom. We use it every single day for coloring, crafts, snacks, and when friends come over. The surface is super easy to wipe (it gets all the pencil, ink, paint marks off!), and the chairs are sturdy without being heavy. It’s one of those pieces that gets constant use and has made their playroom feel more functional and inviting.
Trench coat
I’ve never seen a trench coat quite like this. It can be worn fully closed as a dress or open as a relaxed jacket. I’m always drawn to pieces that are versatile but still feel special, and this one has that balance. It would work just as well for everyday wear as it would for something more dressed up.
Artichoke vases
These stopped me in my tracks. I love how sculptural they are and how they stand on their own even without flowers. They also make arranging stems foolproof, which I appreciate.
Otra Eyewear sunglasses
Sunglasses are easily the thing I lose most. I can’t count how many pairs I’ve misplaced over the years, so I don’t really splurge on expensive ones. At the same time, I don’t love buying throwaway pairs. I recently discovered Otra Eyewear and love how they strike that middle ground. They’re well designed, and affordable. I am eyeing the Ivy, Maddie, and Nia.
Our bedroom reset
I gave so much attention to the kids’ rooms that our bedroom became my least favorite room in the house lol. It’s not bad, just unfinished and a bit neglected. I’ve been feeling the urge to slowly make it a space I actually enjoy spending time in, starting with our nightstands. Right now they’re just there looking cluttered with stuff, so I want to find simple organization pieces and matching lamps. I found some inspiration here, but I’m challenging myself to source everything from local thrift stores first. It feels like a slower, more thoughtful way to approach it.
That’s it! Feels good to ease my way back into Substack.
